So what are GMO's?
GMO's, or "genetically modified organisms," are crops who's seeds have been genetically altered to allow pesticides to be a part of their DNA while lowering the nutritional value drastically.
If you read the 'ingredients' on a label and it has more than 5 listed it's most likely processed, therefore it is even more likely to be a GMO. In other words, what is in the product is not natural but man made.
This process helps corporations maximize their profits. So who are these corporations?
The two main corporations that supply GMO's are Monsanto, and DuPont.
Monsanto's products have included saccharin, Agent Orange, DDT, nuclear weapons, aspartame and Roundup weed killer. This company controls the majority of the world’s seeds and the reported 90% of the world’s genetically modified crops.
The majority of corn, soy beans, milk, canola are now GM. As a result, it's estimated that 75% to 80% of the food in grocery stores are now GM.
Some include:
Soy beans, tomatoes, bananas, pineapples, sugar cane, potatoes, strawberries, cocoa beans, sweet peppers, zucchini, and yellow squash.
By the way- corn has NO nutritional value. I haven't ate corn in over two years because of this. It is a carb that just turns into sugar in your body. Oh and Canola oil? Who on earth would use this!! I am sorry if you do, but it's time to wake up! Canola oil is MAN MADE, I have never heard of the canola plant, have you?? LOL, stick to extra virgin olive oil!
So why are GMO's a threat to us? Well for one, I don't want to eat anything that has been made in a lab, if that's not enough reason for you than maybe this is...
Some scientists predict that GMOs are one of the root causes of: obesity, diabetes, asthma, fertility problems, food allergies and even autism and cancer.
So if this GMO business is so bad, why isn't it all over the media? Why aren't all foods labeled to let us know they are GMO's?
Unfortunately it's not that easy. Big companies such as the ones I mentioned above are battling to keep foods unlabeled. Proposition 37, on the other hand is for the mandatory labeling of GMO's.

To avoid GMO's look for foods that have the certified non-GMO label on them. Also look for foods that are certified USDA organic. I ask that you also please be careful with Whole Foods. Honestly, this store is just a money making scheme, more than half of their crops are GMO.
I have chosen to go non-GMO. I pride myself on living a healthy lifestyle and this is something I am so happy to do! It will not be easy but it is worth it.
Here is a printable PDF I found that lists all GMO and non-GMO foods:

Canola oil is not man made--it is a cross breed of rapeseed plants to make the oil safer (used to be carcinogenic)

what I don't get is wasn't the Whole Foods CEO one of the people backing proposition 37? I'd have to look into it..
